Album Review: Hockey Dad – Brain Candy

‘Brain Candy’ is a mature and really enjoyable third record from Hockey Dad. It features some killer tracks, and maintains a consistently vibrant mood throughout each of its thirteen tracks.

Lyrically ‘Brain Candy’ does nothing new or that interesting. However, the vocal performances by Zach Stephenson on nearly every song are fantastic and capture the album’s youthful mood extremely well. Billy Fleming also delivers some of his best Hockey Dad drumming performances to date. This is especially the case for the album’s closer ‘Looking Forward to a Change’ which has an awesome drum breakout in its second half.

Favourite Tracks: Heavy Assault, Good Eye, Nestle Down, Tell Me What You Want, Dole Brother, Reno, and Looking Forward To The Change | Score: 4.0/5
