Songs of the Week (01.03.2019)

Ending what had already been a huge month of music releases, the final week of February saw brand new tunes from SPREE, Big Thief, Mansionair and Stella Donnelly.

Almost four years since the release of their debut-single Speak Easy, Mansionair have finally blessed us with their first full-length record Shadowboxer. Opening with the ultra-punchy bass-driven track Alibi, the album kicks off and ends with a bang. With every single song, Jack, Alex and Lachlan work perfectly together to create arguably one of my favourite records of the year.

This week also saw an impressive number of new releases from Sydney! This included a brand new single from local electronic producer SPREE titled Fun Police. Addressing the issue of ‘nanny-state’ political attitudes towards the NSW music scene, Fun Police is both meaningful and an extremely fun dance tune! Sydney rock group SUPAHONEY also dropped their debut-single Have You Seen?. The song packs a huge amount of grunge-infused energy, and is a fantastic debut for the boys Ciaran, Declan, Ben and Dylan!
