Youth Jukebox Recognized by the Community Broadcasting Foundation

For three years, Youth Jukebox – a program presented by high school students from the local area – has been broadcasting every weekday from 4-5pm. Each day of the week sees a different combo of presenters playing their favourite music and chatting your ears off.

In July 2014, Mason Smith took on the position of Youth Coordinator. He has seen firsthand the success of the program – the volunteers “have gained self-confidence and enthusiasm for civic participation”.

The Community Broadcasting Foundation recently interviewed Mason about the program, and its success in getting young people engaged with the community. The article is being used to encourage other community radio stations to foster youth involvement in community media.
