Talking with Leader of Count Basie Band on There Goes That Song Again

Count Basie Band

This week, Brian will features an interview with the current leader of the Count Basie Band, Scotty Barnhart.
Formed in 1935, the Count Basie Orchestra was one of the best known Big Bands of the 1930s and 1940s.  While most of the other bands folded at the end of the 1940s, the Count Basie Orchestra continued.   The Count Basie Band has played with greats such as Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Billy Eckstein, Sarah Vaughan, Sammy Davis Jr, and the Mills Brothers.
Brian will ask Scotty “What made the original band unique what contributes to its continuing success today?”  Of course there’ll be hits from the Count Basie orchestra too. The one-hour Special is repeated at 11am on Friday, 6th July.
