
Al Jolson on There Goes That Song Again

One hundred years ago, Al Jolson was one of the most popular singers in the United States, and probably in the English speaking world. For the eighteen years from 1912 to 1930, he had 85 hits, nearly all of them in the Top 10. Then his popularity waned. But it was revived in the late 1940s with two films of his life, and his new recordings reached a whole new generation of fans. Today in our Special at three o’clock, we’ll hear many of Al’s songs from that period.
