Danny ChifleyCommunity Broadcasting Association of Australia

For the past decade, Danny Chifley has been employed with Community Broadcasting Association of Australia, the national peak body for community radio stations in Australia. His involvement with broadcasting stretches back even further, when he caught the community radio bug as part of his Year 10 work experience (not an actual virus). To this day, his mother retains the master recordings of this humble beginning. Since then, his love of independent media and the role it plays in exposing exciting, innovative and local artists has only flourished.

Panelists for “Tune in! Your Guide to Australian Radio” are:

Dom Alessiotriple J

Dom Alessio has been many things in his life: a music journalist, an Oztag referee, the Arts and Assistant Editor for The Brag, a lowly-paid retail employee and a host of The Bridge, the Sydney music show on FBi Radio. But for the past five years Dom’s been presenting Home & Hosed, triple j’s Australian music show. While it means he has no social life on weekdays, he has the plum job of being at the forefront of new Australian music, playing the best of it to the nation Monday to Thursday for an hour at 9pm.

John ZuccoThe Right Profile

John Zucco has held positions such as National Promotions/Publicity Manager, National Marketing Manager for Australian artists and in A&R. His label career was spent at Polydor/Polygram, Universal and Shock Records and he worked at the pointy end of developing artist’s careers such as Powderfinger, The Cruel Sea and Spiderbait. A decade ago he started The Right Profile – a music services company specialising in radio and TV plugging and promotions, working with Australia’s biggest acts including Birds Of Tokyo, Karnivool, Dan Sultan, Drapht and a whole lot more.

Brooke OlsenAMRAP

As AirIt Coordinator at the Australian Music Radio Airplay Project, Brooke works with major and independent labels and unsigned musicians to promote and distribute music to the 350 + community radio stations Australia-wide. Amrap offers a number of services to musicians at all stages of their careers, assisting them in connecting with community radio broadcasters nationally as well as tracking airplay. Brooke has volunteered and/or worked for 2RRR, 2SER, ABC Radio National. She currently presents ‘Ears Have Ears’ on FBi Radio.

Liza Harvey2RRR

Liza Harvey is Station Coordinator at Sydney community station 2RRR and moonlights as Co-Director of music festival Sound Summit. Her fascination with Australian music that sits somewhere on the fringes of “genres” and “ideals” has led her on an on-going excursion through the independent music industry and the wider independent broadcasting community.
