Songs of the Week (08.03.2019)
This week in music featured a stack of new releases from artists Gesaffelstein, Beauchamp Park, Stella Donnelly and Gus Dingwall.
After almost two years since the release of her eye-opening Thrush Metal EP, Stella Donnelly is back to share with us her debut-album Beware of the Dogs. A social statement more than anything, the record takes a stand against white-male privilege and authority. It features some of the best lyrics I’ve heard in a long-time; particularly on the tracks Old Man, Boys Will Be Boys, and the hilarious U Owe Me.
This week also saw new releases Beauchamp Park and Gus Dingwall. Forming in 2018, Sydney’s Beauchamp Park have spent the last six months working hard to share their debut-single In Rotation. The song centres around the absence of change and feelings of sameness. In the Melbourne scene, electronic-producer Gus Dingwall shared his exceptional first release in over a year and a half Apollo.
